Kia America is charging full speed ahead. August 2025 marked a historic milestone for the brand, with a record-breaking 83,007 units sold — the highest monthly total in Kia’s U.S. history. That’s a 10.4% jump over August 2024 and only the second time Kia has crossed the 80,000-unit threshold in a single month. Year-to-date sales are also surging, up 8.6% overall, with retail sales climbing 10.3%.

EV Momentum: Kia’s Electric Lineup Powers Forward

Kia’s electric vehicle portfolio continues to impress, led by the flagship EV9. In August alone, the EV9 posted 2,679 units sold — a 54% increase over July. The EV6 and Niro EV followed suit with month-over-month growth of 39% and 57%, respectively. That marks four straight months of EV sales growth, reinforcing Kia’s position as a rising force in the electrified segment

Both the EV9 and Sportage achieved best-ever monthly performances, helping Kia’s SUV lineup hit its highest monthly sales total to date.

“Kia delivered another sales milestone by recording more than 83,000 sales in a single month – our best-ever monthly sales result – keeping us firmly on track to achieve our third consecutive annual sales record and our highest ever market share,” said Eric Watson, VP of Sales Operations at Kia America.

Awards & Events: Kia’s Innovation Recognized

Kia’s momentum isn’t just about numbers — it’s also earning accolades and turning heads:

  • EV9 Wins Big: The 2025 all-electric EV9 earned top honors in the J.D. Power U.S. Tech Experience Index (TXI) Study, winning the Mass Market award for “One-Pedal Driving” in the EV advanced tech category.
  • Sportage Media Drive: Kia hosted over 30 journalists in Louisville, KY, to test the refreshed 2026 Sportage Turbo Hybrid. The event showcased the model’s design, tech, and efficiency upgrades in the hometown of Muhammad Ali.
  • Winter Warriors: The 2025 Carnival MPV and Telluride SUV both received Winter Vehicle Awards from the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA). It’s the fourth win for Telluride and the first for Carnival in the minivan category.

Kia’s August performance isn’t just a flash in the pan — it’s a clear signal that the brand’s strategy of blending innovation, electrification, and design is resonating with American drivers. With strong momentum across sedans, SUVs, and EVs, Kia is well-positioned to close out 2025 with its third consecutive annual sales record.
